22.05.27 Release Notes

The Nebula 22.05.27 release contains the following enhancements:

  • Introduced object-level security (OLS) to provide more granular access controls for the Nebula User Management system.
  • System Administrators can control object permissions at the Group-level for all Groups assigned to a project (Repository and/or Matter).
  • Non-Admin users with the necessary OLS permissions can control object permissions at the Group-level for their own Firm, and at the Firm-level for other Firms (external Groups are concealed from non-Admin users).
  • OLS permissions will never supersede a Group’s project-level permissions, but can be pre-emptively set at higher levels in case those project-level permissions are subsequently elevated by an Admin.
  • The following object types are supported in this release:
    • Keyword Categories - Cull and Review
    • Search Folders/Searches - Cull and Review
    • Lists - Cull and Review
    • Productions
    • Markup Sets
    • Workflows
    • Fields (work-product fields only)
    • Coding Forms
  • Introduced Markup Sets to serve as logical, securable containers for markups (redactions and highlights) at the Matter-level.
  • Every Matter will have one default Markup Set called “Primary” (renamable) that is created automatically; additional sets can be added.
  • Users with elevated permissions will find the administrative page for creating, editing, and deleting Markup Sets and redaction labels located at Review > Review Management > Markup Sets.
  • Users with elevated permissions can also add new redaction labels on-the-fly from the viewer.
  • AutoRedact jobs are now run with a specified Markup Set.
  • Productions & Exports are (optionally) run with a specified Markup Set.
  • Printing documents from the document list (optionally) runs with a specified Markup Set.
  • Modified “Redactions” coding panel pane now supports Markup Set differentiation.
  • Viewer changes in conjunction with the release of Markup Sets.
  • Image viewer selector for switching between pristine and production images is now embedded in the “Image” tab (previously located in viewer toolbar).
  • Unified redaction experience across all supported viewer modes with UI updates in the viewer toolbar.
  • New Markup Set & Label selector on all supported viewer modes.
  • Redaction Label selection is now sticky going page-to-page in Image viewer.
  • Redaction tool toggle is now sticky going page-to-page.
  • Media Viewer now supports multiple redaction styles on a single file.
  • Simplified redaction context menu within Image viewer.
  • Simplified markup styling options within Image viewer.
    • Black box (with or without label)
    • White box with label and black border
    • All highlighting is yellow
  • Note: White box redaction styling and highlighting are not available in NSR Viewer

  • Enhanced search builder capability for finding records with specific markup styles and types.
  • New searchable fields “Markups (Redaction Type)” & “Markups (Style)” that dynamically update as markups are added to documents in the Matter.
  • Removed the following searchable “Review Statuses.”
    • Annotated
    • Audio Video Redactions Burned
    • Excel Redactions Parsed
    • Has Audio Video Annotations
    • Has Audio Video Redactions
    • Has Auto Redactions
    • Has Excel Redactions
    • Has Image Redactions

  • Burn operations for Nebula Spreadsheet Redaction (NSR) and Nebula A/V (audio file redactions) are now fully integrated and automated as part of a production/export job.
  • Pre-burning NSR and A/V redactions is available through the associated production/export menu if the production/export has a specified Markup Set.
  • Renamed and repurposed “Annotation Profiles” to “Endorsement Profiles,” which are now exclusively used to control branding on images and no longer control redaction burning options.
  • Performance increase of 3x-5x for export & production tasks containing images.
  • Modified organizational schema for images contained within load file exports & productions.
  • Folders now store up to 1,000 images each from sequential records.
    • IMAGES/000/000/<filename>.tif
  • OAuth 2 support for Nebula Legal Hold (NLH) mail service.
  • Renamed the “Evidence Number” processing input parameter to “Tracking ID.”
  • Improved OCR & PDF task handling to alleviate occasional blocking caused by large tasks.
  • Removed the “Review > Admin > A/V Suite” page from the UI.
  • Removed support for exporting DII and LFP image loadfiles.
  • Minor UI improvements for Sampling.
